Step by Step Instructions

 

Step 6 - Four-Chambers:

  1. Choose one of the short axis images just above the valve plane that shows a large circular LV and a semilunar RV.

  2. Place your cursor or slice center marker in the exact center of the LV.
   

  1. Angle the slice to go through the furthest corner of the RV.  This should be perpendicular to the ventricular septum.

  2. Verify that this slice goes through both ventricles and both atria by paging through all of the short axis image.

   

Step 7 - Two Chambers:

  1. From the 4-chamber image, position a slice to go through the middle of the mitral valve to the apex.

  2. From the same short axis image used in step 6 above, position a slice though the center of the LV and perpendicular to the prescription for the 4-chamber plane.
